Nini and Papa 2

Adam here-

Sloane really enjoys any time she gets to spend with Family. It is great! My parents (Nini and Papa 2) have fun with her too!  She likes to sing songs with them, and I happened to catch this one on my phone and it was very sweet.

She goes for walks with them and really enjoys her time with them.

Nini got Sloane a new swimsuit with a sun top, but when she thought the bottoms made a really good hat.

Sloane is getting much better at saying names and two names she is really good at saying are: Nini and Papa (she needs to work on saying the “2” portion)

Mother’s day 2016

As many of you know, we had quite the Mother’s day this year. I got to sleep in on Mother’s day and I woke up to three missed calls, a voicemail, and three texts from Adam. He and Sloane had driven to pick some things up for the day and they were in a car accident on the way home about half mile from our house. Someone ran a red light. Adam couldn’t stop in time, hitting that car and was pushed into a pick-up next to him. Sloane and Adam are both ok. Sloane cried a bit until Adam could get her out of her car seat. I got to them about 30 minutes after the accident and she mostly wanted some milk. The firemen had given her a little stuffed fawn and she was enamored with it. Adam is sore in his neck, jaw, back, and right foot. Sloane’s neck and lower back felt tight to us. The past few weeks have been filled with appointments; acupuncture and chiropractic for both of them. They are both on the mend. I think one of the hardest things was that Adam just rebuild the engine in his car last summer. All that time and effort turned into a blob of metal.

Bye Lumina! You were a good beast of a car.

We are very grateful to Nini and Papa. They helped when we were dazed that morning. We had a fun Mother’s day dinner with them. Sloane got the best present on Mother’s day- a play house! It has a working doorbell, little seats, and a sink.

And we are thankful to Nini and papa for lending us one of their cars as we navigate the insurance claim and shop for a new car. Shopping for a new car with a 1 1/2 year old is easy, right?

I am lucky to have a healthy, happy daughter and husband. Sloane has started giving leg hugs and it melts my heart to have her wrap her arms around me when I am standing making her food in the kitchen. Also, for some reason I am hilarious to her! I didn’t think I would be the funny parent, but I totally am! And everyone knows Adam and probably wants a clone of him to have around the house. He is helpful, caring, and supportive as always. He is the best partner for me and we’ve been building quite a family, life, and business together. 20160527_134950

Lida and G visit!

We were so lucky that Lida and G visited this weekend. We packed lots into the three days we had together- swimming, the zoo, BBQ with the Lembos, and dim sum. Most importantly, we were able to celebrate Lida’s 10th birthday a few days early. She chose to have sushi for dinner. Lida was so helpful in the kitchen! She even baked the cake. What I will remember most about this weekend is that Lida loved that Sloane narrates her falls by saying “boom”, that Lida tried aerial and was very adventurous the whole weekend, and that G read psychics as physics and made me laugh so hard!

Easter

Sloane got a couple Easter packages this year. Jesse crocheted her an Easter basket with 6 eggs and a bunny. Sloane loves carrying bags and the basket has been a big hit. G and Pa sent a couple cute summer outfits and a book. She’s already been able to wear the new dress on one of our heat wave days. G wrote on the last page of the book- ‘We love you, G and Pa.’ We’ve read it a bunch and now when I ask her to say G, she says Pa.

We went to the Lembos’ for an Easter egg hunt and brunch this year. It was fun to be with friends and have the kiddos play. Sloane did not really understand the egg hunt thing, but that meant we didn’t have to bring any chocolate home! Sloane wore a jumper that Jesse and I both wore when we were little. Unless Sloane’s tummy gets a little smaller, she won’t be wearing it again.

15 months

She is a growing girl, per usual.

20160317_17274520160319_15305420160318_092409

We had a 15 month pediatrician appointment on 3/18, one day after she turned 15 months. She is 28 lbs 7 oz and 32 inches long! Before the appointment, we counted how many words she had in case they asked us. We counted 25 words that she says. I’m going to list them at the end for documentation because this is pretty much Sloane’s baby book in blog form.20160313_17072420160313_17220220160312_133627

Though she excels in verbal skills for her age, she is on the slow side for gross motor skills. She started walking at the beginning of March. With this has come more adventurous movements. We have a box waiting to go to recycling that has become a favorite play spot. She backs her bum up into it so she can sit. A few nights ago, she sat naked in the box reading a book for a while. She is pretty silly!

Cannon Beach

The first weekend in March, we went out to Cannon Beach with my parents. They were visiting to celebrate 40 years of marriage! Adam and I marked 2 years on March 1st, so we just have 20 x that to go!

Sloane was very happy to see G and Pa. She can even say Pa’s name now. Though half the time it comes out as baa, she is trying. They were able to see her walking and she walked on the beach for the first time. Though we had some showers that weekend, we also had some sunshine. One day when we walked on the beach, the wind was blowing the sand is crazy patterns. We chose to walk with the wind that day and returned on the streets.

Sloane is an eagle eye when it comes to bird and dog spotting. This means walking on the Oregon beaches is perfect. Haystack rock is a bird sanctuary and dogs are allowed on the beach. She enjoys waving to the birds and dogs and then asks for more when they go away.

We have a photo at home of Adam tossing our niece Ellie in the air in front of Haystack rock when she was about 3 years old. We attempted to recreate it with Sloane. Adam got her pretty high and I barely got her released out of my hands! But Sloane enjoyed the ride and we got some arm work out in during vacation.IMG_3301IMG_3309

It was a great visit with G and Pa. We can’t wait for them to come back soon.

Toddler

We have many posts in the works- a visit from G and Pa, along with turning 15 months old. But I couldn’t wait to post this video.

Sloane is kinda like a real toddler now. She amazes us with how much she learns and understands. Her play is changing also. Last night, she was playing with this glass jar and her B Baby (great Christmas present from Lida :). I was wondering what she was doing because she looked like she might be trying to suffocate the baby. But after a few seconds, I realized she was trying to give the baby a drink out of the jar. This is a long video, but I thought those of you far away would appreciate a glimpse at Sloane playing and making fun expressions. At the end you see the suffocation move, but we’ll cut her some slack for not being 100% coordinated yet.
